AN ALTERNATIVE INDIAN GROOM SHOE

It’s a funny quirk of nature, that in the bird kingdom it’s often the male of the species who gets to be the most colourful. Think of the peacock’s fan, the cockerel’s multicolours, the mallard’s iridescence. Yet when it comes to mammals, which includes us humans, it’s usually only the females who get the chance to dazzle; most especially at weddings.

Not so, of course, at Indian weddings. These events are quite possibly the most colourful, ornate and longest (at least 3 days) weddings on the planet. If you watch any good Bollywood movie you’ll see the gentlemen are often as bejewelled as the ladies. And one of the key parts of the attire are the Indian Groom Shoe.

WHAT SHOES TO WEAR WITH A SHERWANI

They say you can tell a lot about a man by the shoes he wears. We’d suggest even more so by the ones he gets married in. That’s why so many grooms come to us for their handmade monogrammed slippers.

The Indian Groom Shoe is always distinct. Some are influenced by the royalty of 400 years ago: they are incredibly ornate, embroidered with real gold and silver thread and colourful beads. Others are more modern, but with curves in all the right places still: you’ll often find them with seams running up the centre and a slightly curved toe. But what marks an occasion more, and is the perfect shoe to wear with a mens sherwani than an exquisitely embroidered slipper?

They say you can tell a lot about a man by the shoes he wears. We’d suggest even more so by the ones he gets married in. That’s why so many grooms come to us for their handmade monogrammed slippers.

All our handmade mens slippers can be designed to your own specification, with custom embroidery and choice of upper fabric and lining. We can even make them with rubber soles – so when you’re performing your Bollywood wedding dance, you don’t slip under the top table.

Take a look at our glorious range here, and start shaking that tail feather!
