The ultimate experience with Bowhill & Elliott is to indulge in a pair of bespoke embroidered velvet slippers. Here we open up our workshop, allowing you full access to our range of uppers, linings and sole units, hand made to your specifications on a choice of two last shapes. Completely gender neutral with sizes ranging from 2UK – 14UK, the only challenge is deciding what to order first!Â
Once you have paired your colours and materials the real fun starts, which hand stitched gold work embroidery will you commission to take pride of place on this one off pair of albert slippers? Are you inspired by travel and culture, a keen hobbyist, a club member, aspiring sportsperson, games enthusiast, or honoured with a family crest? The options are endless, with both wire and threads in a multitude of colours to choose from, the decision can sometimes be overwhelming. That’s why we are on hand all the way through the process, to help guide and assist to bring your design to life. It is always favourable to upload an image for us to work with, then we can draw on our many years of experience to create a digital image with suggested embroidery instructions for you to approve before we start the manufacturing process.
Due to the personal nature of the design we can not accept returns on bespoke embroidered slippers, but if you are unsure of your size we can either book a fitting in-store, or arrange to have trial fittings posted for you to confirm the size in the comfort of your own home.

Named after Queen Victoria’s consort, Prince Albert (who famously commissioned them to wear inside their many royal residences), Albert slippers today are loved by men and women alike, with all our styles unisex and available to order on two different last shapes. For the most daring among you the option of customised slippers is a must have. Although not full bespoke slippers as we still use our existing last shapes, we give full licence to design your own customised slippers.Â

OUR HISTORY
Bowhill & Elliott are a 5th generation family owned handmade slipper workshop and 2 floor shoe emporium. Proudly making and purveying the finest footwear since 1874.
Our skilled artisans still maintain many of the original shoemaking practices dating back to the 14th century like clicking, turning and lasting all by hand.
We have stocked iconic brands such as Crockett & Jones since the 1940s, and specialise in premium footwear and accessories with brands including Heschung, Joseph Cheaney & Sons, Loake, Brunate and Saphir.
